David Spotts had no idea just how much his mother disliked Christmas until he watched her on the Dr. Phil Show in December 2008 in a show titled, “Huge Holiday Headaches”. He knew that his mother did not like Christmas, but never imagined that she would share that opinion with 20 million viewers nationwide!
And so David came up with an idea to help his mother navigate the Christmas season. He knew that if his mother had a worthy diversion, a charitable project or event, that she would be able to get through the Christmas holiday in the best way possible. So he took her least favorite song, “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” and turned it into a fundraising idea for two very worth organizations.
In an effort to make the “chocolate hippo” to the “Santa stocking” as important as the “chocolate bunny rabbit” to the “Easter basket”, we are all hoping that EVERYONE will want a Hippopotamus for Christmas. Proceeds of this effort will benefit the Harvest for Hunger Campaign and the Kilimanjaro Climb for a Cure, pediatric brain cancer and tumor program.
